About NVITAFE
From January 1 2026, Northern Victoria Institute of TAFE (NVITAFE) is the legal entity that operates GOTAFE (RTO 3094) and Wodonga TAFE (RTO30970), providing a single governance and operating framework across both TAFEs.
GOTAFE and Wodonga TAFE are registered businesses names of NVITAFE.
GOTAFE and Wodonga TAFE have partnered in many projects and training delivery offerings over the years. In early 2025, the Boards of both organisations led an initiative to understand the benefits of amalgamating the two TAFEs. Of most importance, was how an amalgamation would benefit our local communities and industries, by strengthening vocational education and training in our regions.
Following the research and due diligence to discover the feasibility and benefits of an amalgamation, the Boards approved an intent to merge. This subsequently led to the amalgamation being approved by Governement in late 2025, and fully enacted on 1 January, 2026.NVITAFE was established to ensure equity of access to education, deliver expanded course offerings and stronger pathways, economies of scale and growth in specialisations and industry partnerships.
By operating under one legal entity, the institutes can align systems and oversight while continuing to deliver high-quality training locally.
The Registered Training Organisation code of GOTAFE (3094) is now registered as Northern Victoria Institute of Technical and Further Education (RTO 3094. The Registered Training Organisation code of Wodonga TAFE (3097) is now registered as Northern Victoria Institute of TAFE (RTO 3097). However, GOTAFE and Wodonga TAFE remain as the key training business names of NVITAFE.
Training delivery and student services continue to be provided by GOTAFE and Wodonga TAFE.
What this means for students of GOTAFE and Wodonga TAFE
NVITAFE will only replace the GOTAFE and Wodonga TAFE names in terms of financial and legal documentation, and in registers holding information about us as Registered Training Organisations. For instance; the ABN of GOTAFE and Wodonga TAFE is shared: 68 437 423 269; the legal entity name of the two amalgamated organisations is: Northern Victoria Institute of Tertiary and Further Education; and the RTO names have both changed on training.gov.au
GOTAFE and Wodonga TAFE continue as the primary student-facing brands during the transition period. Students may see reference to Northern Victoria Institute of TAFE amongst GOTAFE and Wodonga TAFE materials, such as on invoices or receipts.
GOTAFE and Wodonga TAFE as RTOs and registered business names are still found on training.gov.au - it is easiest to search by RTO Code (GOTAFE - 3094, Wodonga TAFE 3097). This is because the legal entity name linked to the two RTOs has changed. You will find GOTAFE (RTO 3094) registered as Northern Victoria Institute of Tertiary and Further Education, and Wodonga TAFE (RTO 3097) as Northern Victoria Institute of TAFE.
For apprentices who receive an Australian Apprentice Training Support Payment, when you apply for the funding, you will find GOTAFE (RTO 3094) registered as Northern Victoria Institute of Tertiary and Further Education, and Wodonga TAFE (RTO 3097) as Northern Victoria Institute of TAFE.

Governance and compliance
NVITAFE is responsible for legal and statutory governance, regulatory compliance and reporting, funding and contractual arrangements, and strategic coordination across the two TAFEs. NVITAFE is the employer of all staff at GOTAFE and Wodonga TAFE.
NVITAFE is not a new campus or a replacement for GOTAFE or Wodonga TAFE.
